This short video presents the goal of the ELR-SCAR project — a groundbreaking intervention designed to prevent scar formation after a heart attack. Each year, millions suffer from cardiac damage that current treatments cannot reverse. ELR-SCAR introduces an innovative elastic hydrogel that mimics the heart’s natural flexibility, protecting injured tissue and promoting regeneration. With €4.46 million in EU funding and a consortium of 8 partners across 7 countries, the project aims to reach first-in-human trials by 2027, bringing new hope to those affected by heart disease worldwide.
